Knife Defense Seminar!
Knife Defense Seminar!
This past weekend FCC hosted its first of many knife defense seminars. The seminar was led by Sgt. Murray Haday of the Niagara Reginal Police, who has been involved with edged weapons and is certified Use of Force Instructor. The seminar consisted of categories of assault and defense, principles of combative edged weapons, knife carry methods, concealment, different knife strokes and lines of attack and defense. Sgt. Haday explains that; “Knife Assaults are lethal and complex. There are no easy solutions to developing a simple empty hand countermeasure for Knife Assaults. The goal of these techniques is develop a simple and effective knife countermeasure. The lines of Knife Defense practiced with repetition will assist in developing the automatic reflexes needed for spontaneous assaults.” The majority of the group that attended the seminar was the staff from the Rum Jungle and the Lions Tavern. Due to the increase in knife related incidents in the Port Dalhousie and St. Catharine's bar districts the Rum Jungle and Lions Tavern wanted to take action and learn how to prevent and protect themselves if a spontaneous assault occurred in their establishment. Fight Club Canada would like to thank Sgt. Murray Haday for taking his time to teach us these possible life saving techniques! Thanks Murray See you on the mats!
